Frequently Asked Question About Hand-Forged Iron
What is hand forged iron?
Hand forged iron is metal that was heated and shaped by hand. The best iron products are handmade by a master blacksmith using a hot forge, anvil and hammer, with hand-applied patina finishes.
Which is better, cast or forged iron?
Forged iron is stronger, more durable, and ideal for decorative and structural iron products, while cast iron is molded and better for heavy-duty uses like cookware. Forged iron is often preferred for outdoor or high-traffic areas, especially with protective coatings or hand-applied finishes.
Will forged iron rust?
Yes, forged iron can rust if left unprotected outdoors. Protective finishes like powder coating, paint, or patinas help prevent rust and keep your iron pieces looking fresh for years.
