RECLAIMED BOX BEAMS FOR SALE

Reclaimed box beams along the ceiling of a stone room

WHY CHOOSE RECLAIMED BOX BEAMS?

Our reclaimed box beams are the accessory you need to transform your space into a rustic paradise. They are lighter than you’d think, stronger than you’d expect, and each one is the one and only.

So what are they?

Box beams are hollow wooden beams used as decorative pieces throughout your home. We take the faces of a full beam to create a hollow version that is a fraction of the weight, but just as beautiful. They’re perfect to install on your ceiling and in spots that a full beam would be too heavy. You can also use them to cover up exposed joists and other features that are just an eyesore.

WHAT MAKES BOX BEAMS UNIQUE:

  • Hand-assembled
  • Lightweight
  • One-of-a-kind
  • Vintage warmth
  • Timeless style

FOR BUILDERS

Box beams make it easy to add rustic warmth without the weight of solid wood. Perfect for restaurants, offices, or high-end homes, they provide the visual appeal of full beams without the structural challenges. Each beam is hand-assembled and customizable, giving you flexibility to match design specifications while maintaining authentic, vintage character.

FOR HOMEOWNERS

Every room in your home could benefit from box beams. Use them on ceilings, over kitchen islands, or to hide exposed joists for an instant design upgrade. Each one is unique and ready to install, bringing handcrafted detail and charm to your living space with minimal effort.

HOW RECLAIMED BOX BEAMS ARE BORN

Every reclaimed box beam starts with the source wood. Typically, we use thin slices cut from the outside of a solid beam. First, we process and clean the material. Once it’s ready, we measure out the slabs to whatever size you need. Then we assemble the pieces by hand with a precision miter lock joint to create a hollow wooden beam.

Have a few solid beams you’re trying to replicate? No problem. We can match the size and style of whatever is already installed in your home. You can alternate between solid and box beams without anyone (even you) being able to tell the difference. Well… except us. But we’re the professionals.

One beam is all it takes to elevate your space. Start designing your dream home with Vintage Wood & Forged Iron.

“I can’t say enough good things about our experience with VWFI! Not only are the box beams absolutely stunning, but the entire process was such a joy from beginning to end… They kiln-dried and wire-brushed each piece to perfection, bringing out the most beautiful natural texture and character. The quality and craftsmanship are incredible, and these beams have completely elevated the look of our kitchen and living room, giving it that warm, rustic charm we were going for.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Box Beams

What are box beams used for?

Box beams are a versatile item, these can be used in almost any project to give your space a rustic flair. However, box beams are strictly decorative and should never be relied on for structural support. You should also keep them inside because temperature fluctuations and changes in moisture will make the beam expand and warp.

What is the difference between a box beam and a solid beam?

Box beams are hollow, lightweight, and made from reclaimed planks or skins, making them easy to install but purely decorative. Solid beams are full pieces of reclaimed wood, which are heavy, durable, and strong enough for mantels, posts, or structural use. Box beams have a clean, uniform look, while solid beams highlight natural marks and character from their history.

What are the benefits of box beams?
  • Lightweight
  • Easier to install
  • Can fully customize the size
  • Can hide unattractive elements

Are box beams strong?

Box beams are hollow, which makes them much lighter and easier to handle and install compared to solid beams. However, because of their hollow construction, they are not designed to provide the same structural support as solid beams and are typically used for decorative purposes.
