YOUR SOURCE FOR VINTAGE WOOD
With styles like modern farmhouse and cottagecore increasing in popularity, the demand for vintage wood has seen a considerable increase in recent years. That said, many consumers find themselves confused by the various terms used to describe what is essentially the same product. While weathered or reclaimed wood doesn’t always come from barns, in most cases, the finished product you see (i.e., the planks) is basically the same thing. The one key exception, of course, is hand-hewn beams. For creating a beautiful appearance in your home or place of business that’s unparalleled, vintage wood is a building material that’s tough to beat.

Frequently Asked Questions About Reclaimed Wood
What does reclaimed wood mean?
Reclaimed wood means it has been used for something else, and we are reusing it for your application, giving it new life. We mostly reclaim wood from old barns and other buildings, but we also reclaim wood from fences and mushroom farms.
Can reclaimed wood be used outside?
Reclaimed wood can absolutely be used outside. It all depends on the environment and the type of wood. We mostly use hardwoods for exterior applications.
What species of reclaimed wood do you typically have in stock?
Our reclaimed wood is white oak, red oak, white pine, yellow pine, heart pine, hemlock, chestnut, hickory, poplar, and fir.
Where do your reclaimed wood and iron products come from?
What can be made from reclaimed wood?
Lots of things! Some more popular projects that use reclaimed wood are barn wood paneling, reclaimed wood fireplace mantels, live edge tables, or reclaimed hardwood flooring.
Can you paint reclaimed wood?
Yes, once we clean up the wood, you can paint it however you like. Some beams and boards have a rougher texture, which makes it a little harder to paint. We recommend poplar if you are looking to paint planking. We also offer staining and hard wax oil finishes.
Is reclaimed wood cheaper?
Reclaimed wood goes through a lengthier process to get to your final product, so it is not always cheaper. We have to tear down a building, remove nails, clean it, and then we can begin to process it. Much of the reclaimed wood we source is Old Growth, so it tends to be more dense and have a higher tensile strength than comparable new lumber.
Can I request to have my reclaimed wood kiln dried?
Can you stain reclaimed wood?
Yes, once the wood is cleaned up, you can finish it however you like. We offer a variety of finishing options including clear coats, stains, and hard wax oils.
